WAVELENGTH DIVISION MULTIPLEXING (CWDM)
CWDM (Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing) is a cost-effective "optical fiber capacity expansion" technology. It achieves bandwidth multiplication at a low cost by transmitting multiple optical signals "in parallel" over a single optical fiber. Although it is inferior to DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) in terms of transmission distance and capacity, its characteristics of low cost, low power consumption, and easy deployment have made it occupy an irreplaceable and important position in scenarios such as metropolitan area access, enterprise networks, and short-distance interconnections. When your requirement is to "obtain a several-fold to more than ten-fold bandwidth increase within tens of kilometers at the least cost", CWDM is usually the best choice.
